Archive for March, 2010

Friday we had our 2011 Senior Model kickoff event at West End Architectural Salvage and Coffee.  This was our first Urban Model Shootout where we photograph several of our senior models in one afternoon in a fun, freestyle atmosphere.  Class of 2010 and 2011 Senior Models and their guests participated while their moms enjoyed beverages from the coffee shop and exploring this remarkable store.  It was a great opportunity for us and our models to explore urban concepts in a rich indoor setting and we created a lot of great images.

West End Architectural Salvage (http://www.westendarchsalvage.com) is the perfect location for this event.  West End salvages valuable items and fixtures from buildings before they are demolished and resells them.  Their building is a charming old four floor warehouse on the corner of West 9th and Cherry in Downtown Des Moines, IA.  It’s four floors of antiques with limitless photo opportunities and a coffee shop (with awesome Mango smoothies) on the main floor.  It was great to be able to have the event indoors as our previous model shootouts have been plagued by snow and cold weather.  Sure enough two inches of snow fell before the shootout was over, but the weather inside was delightful.

Our Senior Model Program is an exclusive opportunity for High School Juniors to enjoy great savings on their senior portraits by getting or starting their senior portraits early.  Models can compete in events like these and are automatically entered in our Top Model Contest to compete for exciting prizes including an iPhone, iPod, HD Video Camera and a $500 donation to the winner’s school’s after-prom.  For more information on our senior model program, visit http://www.seniorsbyphotojeania.com/iModel.

Our Urban Shootout Models, including the Classs of 2010 Top Model Contest winner Jazmin Rubel, competed for Artist Choice Awards including Best Image, Best Model and Best BFF Picture.  Watch our highlight video to find out who won.

Stay tuned for our next Abercrombie & Fitch Model Shootout in Des Moines, IA in April and our Hollister Model Shootout in Avalon, NJ in May.

Urban Senior Portraits have become the most distinctive and sought-after style of senior portraits we offered in 2009.   Seniors began to combine Fashion and Lifestyle concepts with Urban Senior Portraits.  In 2010 look out for seniors getting more creative and incorporating more of their sports, activities and hobbies downtown for some really unique combinations that will push their senior portraits right to the cutting edge.
