We were delighted that Kailey and her family loved her senior pictures posing with her dad’s prized classic Ford Broncos and we were thrilled when they bought two large prints of Kailey and the Broncos, but we were honored when one of these pictures made the 2012 Classic Ford Broncos Calendar. Kailey’s dad, who has a talent for restoring classic broncos in addition to raising beautiful daughters, submitted two of our photos to the ClassicBroncos.com calendar photo contest. Soon thereafter one of Kailey’s photos (”Cheeto”) was chosen by the members voting from 90 other photos. She was in 2nd Place for a while so we were hoping to make the cover, but had to settle for the September page on the calendar (Kailey’s birthday month). Thank you Cara and Tim for sending us a copy of the calendar.

It’s that time already where we are looking for High School Juniors with that extra spark to join our Class of 2013 Senior Model Program.  Our senior model program is a special opportunity for outgoing and photogenic high school juniors to have fun modeling while getting a head start on their senior portraits.  Models enjoy a free one-on-one senior photo shoot  that is completely customized to each individual between March and May.  Models can also participate in model-only photo shoots throughout the spring and summer where they can enjoy modeling with other senior models.  Models have the opportunity to compete in our exclusive Class of 2013 Top Model Contest in June for big cash prizes for themselves and their high schools.  Models get extra pictures for Facebook and can purchase any of our studio’s prints or products at a huge savings for a limited time.  Models also participate in our cash bonus program for referring their friends and have the option to participate in our Share the Love program where they can earn cash rewards by doing simple things to help spread the word about our studio.

We are currently taking applications for Senior Models in and around the following locations:
Des Moines, IA  |  Wilmington, DE  |  Glen Mills, PA  |  Bryn Mawr, PA  |  Avalon, NJ  |  Chicago, IL  |  Pittsburgh, PA

What is truly unique about our program and what has made it such an incredible experience for our senior models is our model photo shoot events. Models can come to at least 10 different model photo shoots (in Des Moines alone) in addition to their scheduled one-on-one photo shoots and have soooo many outfits and locations. These events are a blast. Models make friends with other models from other schools and make contacts that can lead to future modeling opportunities.

Students don’t need modeling experience or need to be a size 2 to apply.  What helps is personality and your recommendation.  We prefer to work with models we know or who have been recommended by our clients, friends and former models so, when you recommend someone, please encourage them to tell us you sent them.  To apply or find out more, please visit www.seniorsbyphotojeania.com/iModel and don’t hesitate to call us if you have any questions at 888-482-5735.

Model Call for Prom DSM 2011

November 14, 2010

The search is on for Iowa high school students to rock the runway at Prom DSM, Iowa’s biggest and most exciting Prom and Fashion Show, on January 30, 2011 at The Meadows in Altoona.  Last year’s inaugural Prom DSM was a spectacular success with dozens of Prom exhibitors and almost 70 high school models from across Central Iowa competing for big prizes for themselves and their schools.

Prom DSM Model Call

Interested students should apply on our website at www.seniorsbyphotojeania.com/promdsmmodels/apply.htm.  Applicants must attend one of several model calls to be schedule between November and early January to be photographed in a tux or prom dress.  In January, photos will be posted to our contest website for a week long online contest to decide who get’s to model in the fashion show.  The top 50-70 vote-getters will be selected to strut their stuff on the runway and compete for exciting prize packages.  Top male and female models will be decided by text message voting at the show.  Winners will receive free tuxes, prom dresses, dinners, photography and other prom services for themselves as well as $500 for their school’s after prom.  Other prizes for talented models may be presented by Prom DSM sponsors.  Last year, Seniors by Photojeania Seniors Cole Lemon, Samantha Sloan and Garrett Owen claimed three of the four top prizes.  Many Prom DSM models have gone on to model for our studio and pursue other modeling opportunities.

A school spirit award, including a big $$$ award for the winning school’s after-prom, will also be offered to the high school demonstrating the most school spirit at the show.  This year’s school spirit competition is rumored to include a walk-off between the best models from each high school.

The 2010 Prom DSM was a blast for everyone involved and we expect well over a hundred models to apply for this year’s event.  Check out our highlight video of last year’s Prom DSM, model call photos and featured models.

Apply to be a Prom DSM Model

Prom DSM is an Artemis Events Company production and Seniors by Photojeania is the sponsor of the Prom DSM Model Search.  For more information on Prom DSM, please visit www.promdsm.com and become a fan on Facebook at www.facebook.com/promdsm.

Hats off to Faisal Alabsi from Johnston High School for winning Top Model in our Class of 2011 Top Model Contest.  If Faisal didn’t win, he certainly would have earned a consolation prize for “Best Dressed” after donning a tuxedo for his photo shoot.  Faisal is also the first dude to win our Top Model Contest which supports the rumor that the name Faisal in Arabic means “The Man”.  A determined model to say the least, Faisal came to his senior portrait photo shoot on crutches after having his foot spiked and broken in a Soccer game.  For the last week of the contest Faisal traded places countless times with 2nd place finisher Noel Murray from Waukee High School but claimed the Top Model spot from Noel in the final hours just before voting ended.  Alexandra Older from Cab Calloway School of the Arts placed 3rd after surging from 5th place on the final day of voting.

As our Top Model, Faisal wins an iPhone for himself as well as a $500 donation to Johnston High School’s 2011 after prom party.  Other prizes for the top three finishers include an iPod Touch, an iTunes Gift Card, and our smoking hot new mini-albums.

Over 22,500 votes were cast in this year’s Top Model Contest - more than double the votes in the Class of 2010 contest.  The Class of 2011 Top Model Contest included 31 models from 19 schools and four states including Iowa, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  Contestants successfully completed Seniors by Photojeania’s exclusive Senior Model Program to compete in the top model contest.

Congratulations to our Class of 2011 Top Models!

More than any year, our 2011 models, like our clients, are passionate about their senior pictures and determined to make them stand out from the rest. This year’s class braved some challenging weather and juggled busy schedules to participate. One model with a broken foot came on crutches to keep his appointment. Our 2011 senior models have been particularly resourceful this year. Some borrowed clothes, searched high and low for the settings they imagined, traveled long distances, and rallied their friends to help them make their pictures special. Our choice of music for our 2011 model slideshow reflects a class that definitely does not want to go through “The Motions”.

People often ask us how our seniors always have such smooth, clear and colorful skin.  Well we do know a few tricks in Photoshop, but to be honest, it starts with great makeup applied for photography.  Believe it or not, not all high school seniors wake up in the morning with great looking skin.  Even those that do, and those that are comfortable applying their own makeup, can make simple but significant mistakes in applying their makeup that can reflect poorly in their pictures.  Some common mistakes seniors make include using illuminating makeup that causes shiny spots on their faces when exposed to direct sun or photography lighting.  Too much dark eyeliner can make young ladies with beautiful eyes look dark and small.  Too much lower eyeliner can make eyes look sleepy.

For our client’s convenience we have our own makeup artist, Shealynn (Shea), who knows how to prepare seniors for their pictures.  Shea is a makeup artist and licensed cosmotologist and has honed her considerable skills at top salons including Aveda’s Serenity Salon at Jordan Creek.  Shea knows all the tricks to conceal, use color and prepare our seniors to look their best for our bright studio lighting, flash and sunlight.  Shea was a comforting presence at Prom DSM this year - helping the models ready for Iowa’s biggest prom and fashion show.  Our senior clients with multiple photo shoots always request Shea for their second photo shoot and several of our Class of 2010 clients have asked Shea to help them prepare for their prom.  Shea offers full makeup and hair touch-ups right in our studio for a reasonable price.  To make sure you look your best, and protect your investment in senior portraits, ask for Shea when you schedule your senior portrait session.

Today our work on Des Moines Cityview’s 2010 Swimsuit Edition hits the stands in Central Iowa. When Cityview approached us about photographing all of the models for this inaugural issue, we thought it was a great opportunity to try out our popular senior style on young professional models and by all accounts it was a smashing success. Our first promotional photo shoot was in our studio with Megan Davis from Project Runway fame. Megan, originally from Johnston, is pursuing a modeling career in L.A., but to our good fortune she was home for Easter weekend and ready to work it. Our photo shoots took us all over town from Prairie Meadows to Principal Park working with stylists from Sahars, swimsuits from Action Accents, accessories from Accents & Interiors and beautiful young models from the Peak Talent Agency. Check out the new issue at your news stand or on Cityview’s website www.dmcityview.com.
