We were delighted that Kailey and her family loved her senior pictures posing with her dad’s prized classic Ford Broncos and we were thrilled when they bought two large prints of Kailey and the Broncos, but we were honored when one of these pictures made the 2012 Classic Ford Broncos Calendar. Kailey’s dad, who has a talent for restoring classic broncos in addition to raising beautiful daughters, submitted two of our photos to the ClassicBroncos.com calendar photo contest. Soon thereafter one of Kailey’s photos (”Cheeto”) was chosen by the members voting from 90 other photos. She was in 2nd Place for a while so we were hoping to make the cover, but had to settle for the September page on the calendar (Kailey’s birthday month). Thank you Cara and Tim for sending us a copy of the calendar.
It’s that time already where we are looking for High School Juniors with that extra spark to join our Class of 2013 Senior Model Program. Our senior model program is a special opportunity for outgoing and photogenic high school juniors to have fun modeling while getting a head start on their senior portraits. Models enjoy a free one-on-one senior photo shoot that is completely customized to each individual between March and May. Models can also participate in model-only photo shoots throughout the spring and summer where they can enjoy modeling with other senior models. Models have the opportunity to compete in our exclusive Class of 2013 Top Model Contest in June for big cash prizes for themselves and their high schools. Models get extra pictures for Facebook and can purchase any of our studio’s prints or products at a huge savings for a limited time. Models also participate in our cash bonus program for referring their friends and have the option to participate in our Share the Love program where they can earn cash rewards by doing simple things to help spread the word about our studio.
We are currently taking applications for Senior Models in and around the following locations:
Des Moines, IA | Wilmington, DE | Glen Mills, PA | Bryn Mawr, PA | Avalon, NJ | Chicago, IL | Pittsburgh, PA
What is truly unique about our program and what has made it such an incredible experience for our senior models is our model photo shoot events. Models can come to at least 10 different model photo shoots (in Des Moines alone) in addition to their scheduled one-on-one photo shoots and have soooo many outfits and locations. These events are a blast. Models make friends with other models from other schools and make contacts that can lead to future modeling opportunities.
Students don’t need modeling experience or need to be a size 2 to apply. What helps is personality and your recommendation. We prefer to work with models we know or who have been recommended by our clients, friends and former models so, when you recommend someone, please encourage them to tell us you sent them. To apply or find out more, please visit www.seniorsbyphotojeania.com/iModel and don’t hesitate to call us if you have any questions at 888-482-5735.
Happy New Years Everyone! This seems like as good a time as any to unveil our Best of the Class of 2012 Book that we just put to press. Our annual book contains our favorites images from the past year and the Class of 2012 was definitely our best yet. This is our third book and has more pages than the first two combined. We can’t wait to get it back from the printer.
Congratulations to Mellissa Perrotta from Avalon, NJ for being selected as our cover model. Shout outs as well to Jesse McAtee (Prairie City Monroe) and Steven McCarville (West Des Moines Valley) for being featured on our first page and back cover respectively. For the first time we are putting our book online so you can see for yourself. Click on a corner of the book below and flip through the pages.
Kailey, from Indianola, had ambitious plans for her senior pictures including edgey urban pictures, cheerleading, dance, home lifestyle, relationship pictures with her pets (including a hamster), dad’s ford bronco collection, swimsuit, trash the dress and, to top it off, she wanted to cut her hair for some of them. The consultation alone was exhausting and there’s always a little risk in long shoots of fatique on both sides of the camera. Fortunately Kailey has a lot of energy and had no trouble hanging in there for 5+ hours (most of which were in the hot sun) and she was such a delight to work with that we found another gear to keep up with her. Kailey is a truly beautiful and spirited girl and we’re glad to have the opportunity to help her create very special senior pictures.
Allie is a serious volleyball player and wanted some beach volleyball in her senior pictures. So when that awkward moment came up in her consultation, where I had to recommend the local Iowa beach I hate the least, it became clear that I finally needed to try an idea we have kicked around for some time. Let’s bring a nice beach to Allie. So we photographed Allie in our studio in Urbandale and then photographed some beautiful beach volleyball backgrounds at sunrise near our beach house in New Jersey and brought them together into our first art print of its kind. As a side benefit it brought Jeannie and I together for our only walk on the beach together this summer. We’re pleased with the results and look forward to doing more of this in the future. The rest of her photo shoot wasn’t bad either. Tell us what you think.
BTW - the truck was provided courtesy of some random guys we ran into when photographing in an Alley off of Lucust. They were very nice to offer it to us for pictures and just goes to show you the kindnes of strangers and how you never know what you’re going to run into on one of our senior photoshoots.
Colby John from Winterset, IA is a young man of many parts and passions. All the usual guy things like fast cars, trendy fashion, modeling and his hair. Colby won our Urban Model Shootout and was only a few likes away from being our Class of 2012 Top Model. As one of our most active Senior Models, we got to know Colby better than most. He’s a definite ladie’s man who attended all of our model events and relished the role of being the only rooster in the hen house. Colby is also a nationally ranked gymnast and just placed first at a national gymnastics competition in Synchronized Trampoline after practicing with his partner for just 15 minutes prior to the event. BTW - Colby goes at least 6′3″ and has to be the tallest nationally ranked gymnast in the history of the sport. So while we might not pick him out of a lineup as an obvious gymnast, we have seen him jump and we are believers. Check out Colby John and all of his women, fast cars, slick hair, designer duds and atheticism he brought to his senior pictures.
We had our first Jersey Shore Trash the Dress party at Sunset Beach in Cape May, NJ earlier this month with some of our favorite models. Everything was clicking including a great sunset over the water, calm waves and beautiful models. Does this look like fun or what?
We usually measure success on a senior portrait photo shoot based on how many awesome images we get, but in Kayla’s case we were just glad she lived through it. We finished her photo shoot with water skiing lifestyle pictures at Saylorville Lake and things got scary after Uncle Jerry steered Kayla a little too close to the dam. Like broke-her-ski-on-the-rocks too close. This was definitely one of those “Oh Shit!” moments that gets your heart pumping and your brain dialing 911. Then, with the quick thinking and coolness of Captain Sully’s Miracle on the Hudson, Kayla navigated between the rocks on the dam and a floating tree trunk just waiting to break both of her legs and managed to land in about a foot of water, breaking only one ski, and calmly said “I’m OK!”. Then like a champ, Kayla gets another pair of skis and takes a couple more laps past the dam like nothing happened. These first two pictures we’re taken after Kayla’s close encounter. We love Kayla’s beauty and adventerous spirit - a true model-warrior.

Check out Bailey from Adel, IA. Bailey applied to be one of our senior models over a year ago after seeing a friend’s Senior Album and we are so glad she did. Bailey also models for Toyota and was selected to walk the Runway at Prom DSM last January. Bailey took advantage of two of our urban model events in addition to her fashion photo shoot in Des Moines and a nature/lifestyle photo shoot at her grandfather’s farm and had an incredible selection of great images to choose from when it came time to pick images for her own senior album. We hope to work with Bailey again and see her once again on the runway at Prom DSM.

Zack hails from Abbington, PA, but wanted a senior portrait photographer in Avalon, NJ to created his senior portraits at the beach in Avalon where his family vacations during the summer. Since beach portraits and seniors are our specialties, we were delighted to help. We also managed to create some sports senior portraits at the ball field and even a few studio shots in Zack’s garage.

Now here’s a girl who takes her senior portraits seriously (and someone who makes it hard to put down the camera). Nicola is from Johstown, PA but arranged to have her senior portraits created at her family’s summer vacation spot - Cape May, NJ. Nicola didn’t have any trouble coming up with ideas for her senior portraits and even liked a few of ours. She even managed to talk us into both a sunset and sunrise photo shoot to accomodate all of our collective inspiration. So we chased Nicola and her entourage of BFFs and Mamarazzis from Sunset Beach to Cape May Point and captured her dancing on the beach, hanging with her friends on the jetty, bringing fashion to the dunes, trashing her prom dress in the bay and doing the pouty supermodel thing in town. Definitely one of our must fun, rewarding and exhausting photo shoots of the summer.
Chris is definitely the tallest high school senior we have photographed at 6′7″ which created some challenges even for a 6′5″ senior photographer. And so we got re-acquainted with our ladder and learned that jump shots in a sports composite look just as good when a senior is on his knees. Chris is handsome, athletic and a good sport. We spent some time with him creating urban senior portraits in Des Moines and finished up in his home town in Adel.
Lucy came to us from the Pittsburgh, PA area for some sunrise dance and fashion senior pictures on the beaches of Ocean City, NJ. Lucy’s dad kept the early morning mood light with his sense of humor and my lights from falling over with his quick reflexes. What a nice way to start the day
